Nepal - So rich and yet so poor!

An article titled Himalayan Hydropower in the Harvard International Review shows how rich and yet how poor Nepal is. According to energy experts, Nepal's extensive river and waterfall systems can generate hydropower up to 43,000 megawatts (MW). However, due to the prevailing political situation, energy infrastructure development and investment in hydropower projects has stalled. The actual annual hydropower output according to the Nepal Electricity Authority reports is 634 MW. Nepal generates only 1.47% of its total capacity. No wonder Nepal is so rich and yet so poor! Hello politicians, are you reading this? The sad truth is that most Nepalis probably won't be able to read this post because of the extensive load-shedding.
