Australia pledges NRs. 2 Billion to Nepal!

Australia has pledged a fund of Rs 2 billion to Nepal as its official development assistance in 2011-12 under the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). In a statement issued here in Kathmandu on Monday, the Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Susan Grace, expressed Australia's commitment to support Nepal to strengthen basic education, enhanced health care and improved access to clean water. The increased health funding will assist Nepal strengthen its national health systems, reduce the number of women who die needlessly during pregnancy or childbirth and improve the nutritional status of children and women. Also, Australia will provide 22 AusAID scholarships to Nepal in 2012. Nice one Australia!
