82 year old Nepal ex-minister dies in Everest Bid!

82-YEAR-OLD Shailendra Kumar Upadhyaya, a former Nepali minister had last month set off for Mount Everest in an attempt to set the record as the oldest person to scale the world's highest peak. Sadly he passed away today while returning from Camp 1 to the Everest Base Camp, at the height of 6,350 metres. He is believed to have died due to shortage of oxygen and high blood pressure. He was attempting to climb Mt. Everest to ‘prove that even elderly people are capable of climbing mountains’. May his soul rest in peace!
