Smoking banned in public places in Naya Nepal!

A new bill recently endorsed by Nepal's Parliament bans tobacco consumption in schools, colleges, hospitals, government offices, temples and public vehicles. This bill has been endorsed as part of Nepal´s obligation to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. Key points include -  selling of tobacco products to minors considered an offence, sale of individual cigarettes no longer allowed (they have to be sold in packets). The new law also stipulates that tobacco companies fill 75 percent space of the packaging of the tobacco products with the facts about health hazards from tobacco consumption, and totally bans advertisements promoting tobacco use in any form. The challenge now is for the Government to enforce the law. Good luck to them!
