Nepali student commits suicide in Australia

Leena Chaulagain a Nepali student from Kathmandu aged 23 has committed suicide in Sydney. She was doing her third semester of Bachelors in Business at Holmes College in Sydney. She had come to Australia in December 2008 and had recently applied for a visa extension. She was found hanging in the bathroom of her flat on March 27 by her room mates who informed police. Preliminary investigations assume that it is a suicide and there is no foul play. Investigators have seized her laptop and mobile phone for further investigations. Her cremation has been done according to Hindu rituals on March 31st with permission from her family in Nepal. A condolence meet was organized to pay last tribute to the deceased. Consular General Deepak Khadka, Gorkha Nepalese Community’s President Dr. Narayan Pradhan and members of Nepalese community were present to pay tribute to the deceased. May her soul rest in peace!
