Myagdi school pays victim NRs. 1.7 million

Mount Everest Higher Secondary School of Beni has paid an eighth grader Rs 1.7 million in compensation after his eardrum was ruptured when beated by a teacher. Aashish KC of Rakhu Piple, Myagdi claims to have been beated by his teacher Poudel in the science laboratory. After the incident, the school had taken the student to Charak Hospital in Pokhara but the hospital had referred him to Kathmandu for further treatment. This incident should refrain teachers in other schools in Nepal from using corporal punishment on students.
