Japan disaster to affect Nepal Tourism Year 2011

The recent natural disaster in Japan is going to have an adverse affect on Nepal Tourism Year 2011. Several Japanese tourists have already cancelled their visit to Nepal and those in Nepal have cut short their trip and are returning to Japan. Around 35000 Japanese tourists are said to visit Nepal annually. Since Nepal is celebrating Visit Nepal 2011 with a target of attracting one million tourists, Nepali authorities would have expected this figure to be higher compared to previous years. But with the current situation in Japan, this is going to be highly unlikely. The disaster could have a more direct impact on Nepal's development since Japan is one of the largest donors to Nepal.
