Former Minister sent to prison in Nepal!

For the first time in the post 1990 period, a former minister and senior Nepali Congress leader has been sent to prison on corruption charges. Chiranjivi Wagle has been slapped with a 18-month jail term and a fine of Rs. 20.3 million for corruption. A division bench of Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha and Khil Raj Regmi passed the verdict and the Supreme Court of Nepal sent full text of the verdict and a separate letter asking the Kathmandu District Court to implement it on Thursday, the 17th of March 2011. He was arrested the same day and sent to the Dillibazar prison. Let's hope that other corrupt politicians also meet the same fate!
