More and more Bhutanese Refugees leave Nepal to settle in the West

The number of Bhutanese refugees who have departed Nepal under an International Third Country Resettlement programme has now topped 36,000. As of September 30, the repatriation figure was 36,618. The leading countries to receive them include Australia, Canada, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, New Zealand and Britain. There are around 75,000 Bhutanese refugees remaining in the camps in South-Eastern Nepal. A significant number of these are expected to migrate overseas in the future.
