British Gurkhas to go?

Will the British Government axe the Gurkha Regiment of the British Army to save spending to meet other demands of the Department of Defense? There has been a lot of reports in the British and Nepali media about the possibility. While in the past, Gurkha soldiers were cheaper than their British counterparts, after last year's changes, they are now as expensive as the British solders and hence seem a logical choice if the need arises. Currently, the Brigade of Gurkhas has a strength of 3,640 soldiers.
